Project Manager

J. F. Smith is currently accepting applications for the position of Project Manager. Successful candidates would be assigned to projects that typically run from $500,000 to $10,000,000. Our projects are typically large, complex homes in the residential market and retail, office, warehouse and other fast-track commercial projects. Whether you have 5 years or 25 years of projects under your belt, we can offer a project that will challenge you and allow you to grow. Pre-construction Manager

J. F. Smith is currently accepting applications for the position of Pre-construction Manager. An overview of the position and qualifications follow:

Education and Qualification
BS degree in construction management or civil engineering
A further qualification in business would be advantageous
Must be fluent in written and spoken English

Experience
Experience in Preconstruction Management & Estimating
Commercial and Residential Estimating & Purchasing
Cooperative Education & Internships in the Industry

Self-motivation is essential since the role is a new one in the organization and the successful candidate will be expected to make progress as the senior member of the estimating and purchasing team as the company grows

Responsibilities
The Pre-Construction Manager will have the following responsibilities:

Manage origination of Conceptual Drawings
Prepare Bid Schedules and Prelim Project Schedules
Study Bid-Set Drawings and Specifications
Prepare Scope Check Lists
Prepare estimates
Vendor & Subcontractor Pricing Control
Gather Multiple Bids from Vendors & Subs
Perform Scope Checks between Bidders
Create and Process Change Orders
Train and hire estimators as needed
Supervise Estimators
Maintain & Update estimating database

Occasional travel will be required for pre-construction meetings and jobsite visits.
